Herbs To Cure Immune Thrombocytopenia

Ayurvedic medicine has an important place in the treatment of various diseases. It is very useful for chronic ailments. The herbs are useful to rejuvenate the body efficiently and help in overcoming different health problems. Here we will discuss herbs that can help in ITP treatment.

The classical medical science Ayurveda deals with herbal medicines. Herbs which, are in daily use by people all over India. They are also available at online stores. These ayurvedic medicines are 100% natural, side effects free efficient remedies.

Ayurvedic herbs are clinically as well as historically working well and established. These are effective against many diseases easily available at reasonable rates or costs. This article deals with using some important ayurvedic herbs for the Ayurvedic cure of ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura).

There are many ayurvedic herbs, which help cure the treatment of ITP. Some of the important herbs we will discuss here one by one:

Turmeric: For ITP

Turmeric is another important Ayurvedic herb. Which is in use for thousands of years to treat various diseases. It is a natural anti-inflammatory agent and helps in reducing the inflammation caused due to ITP. It also helps in boosting immunity power and fighting against infections.

Fresh juice, powder, or capsules; one can take turmeric in any of these ways.

Grounded powder of the root of the plant helps for medicinal purposes. Every kitchen in India, essentially has turmeric and we use turmeric in every dish, except a few (that I personally take as “exceptions”.

Recent research suggests that turmeric may be beneficial for people with immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP), a disorder that causes the body to produce too few platelets, which are necessary for blood clotting. Platelets help control bleeding by plugging small holes in damaged blood vessels. ITP can cause excessive bruising and bleeding, especially in the nose.

Don’t mix the milk and turmeric- in name of using this wonderful herb. The saying “everything which glitters is not gold” applies to the GOLDEN MILK. The time you use a herb and form of a herb you use- everything matters. Perhaps this is the reason in Ayurveda we have powders, pills, oils and ghee- all different formulations. These formulations aim different conditions.

Turmeric reduces inflammation. And because inflammation plays a role in the development of ITP. Therefore it helps in controlling the condition of purpura due to thrombocytopenia. Turmeric is also a source of antioxidants, which may help protect the body’s cells from damage.

So the impact of turmeric is “multidimensional”.

Garlic: Ther Herb to Help in Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia

Garlic is a plant that has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. In recent years, garlic has been studied for its potential role in the prevention and treatment of various diseases, including immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

ITP is a condition in which the body’s immune system destroys platelets, leading to low blood platelet count (thrombocytopenia). This can cause excessive bleeding and bruising. The cause of ITP is unknown, but it may be due to an autoimmune reaction or infection.

Garlic has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It may help to reduce inflammation and protect against damage caused by free radicals. Garlic also helps to boost the immune system.

A number of small studies have investigated the potential role of garlic in the treatment of ITP. Results are not stable, but some studies already confirm that garlic may be helpful in improving platelet count and bleeding.

The cases where it works well are those “when we apply the logic of Ayurveda, properly”. This is something which we all miss when it comes to use of the herbs. Garlic, increases the “Pitta Dosha” but not in all conditions. This is the reason, why a physician is an important factor while deciding the proper way to use this herb.

More research can help to determine the effectiveness of garlic for treating ITP. However, based on the current evidence, garlic may be a promising natural treatment for this condition.

Garlic has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which may help to protect against damage caused by free radicals, and it also has the ability to boost the immune system.

Proper refinement can help us to reach a more perfect understanding of the role of garlic in the treatment of immune thrombocytopenic purpura.

Guduchi: A Potent Immunomodulator in ITP

Guduchi is a popular herb that is used for the treatment of various diseases such as diabetes, fever, and others. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help in the healing process.

Guduchi, Tinospora cordifolia, improves the blood supply by removing toxins from the blood.

Along with the purification of blood, Giloya balances the immune system too. So whether you call it Idiopathic or immune thrombocytopenia- it balances both conditions.

Home remedies are not the right way to use herbs for the treatment. Ayurvedic science doesn’t support home remedial use of herbs. The discriminative and appropriate use of any herb improves its working in any of the diseases. Same applies to the Guduchi too.

Do Consult for the problem of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic purpura.

Guduchi possesses immunomodulatory activity and proven with results in autoimmune conditions such as immune thrombocytopenia. Studies have demonstrated that Guduchi increases the number of circulating platelets and also inhibits platelet aggregation.

In addition, Guduchi scavenges free radicals and inhibits lipid peroxidation. Thereby protecting the cells from damage.

Furthermore, Guduchi has been shown to enhance the production of T-helper cells and cytokines, which play an important role in the immune response. Taken together, these findings suggest that Guduchi may be beneficial in the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia.

Vasaka: A Herb for Blooding Disorders

Adhatoda vasica is a medicinal plant is in use for centuries in the traditional Indian system of medicine, known as Ayurveda, to treat a variety of health conditions.

Recently, A. vasica is beneficial in the ayurvedic treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys its own blood platelets.

A study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research examined the effects of A. vasica on ITP patients. The study participants were randomly divided into two groups:

  • The first group received standard care plus A. vasica extract
  • The second group only received standard care.

The results showed that the group that received the A. vasica extract experienced complete remission of platelet counts after 1 month, while the placebo group did not experience a change in their platelet counts during the same time period.

The researchers concluded that adding A. vasica extract to standard care was an effective treatment method for ITP patients.

In another study published in Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy. A steroidal glycoside isolated from A. vasica root extract checked for its effect on ITP patients. Researchers found that daily administration of this compound for 30 days helped with a decrease in platelet count, suggesting an alternative therapeutic approach for ITP.

It is possible that long-term use of A. vasica root extract may have some unwanted side effects. Therefore, if you are considering using this plant for ITP treatment, it is important to consult with your doctor first to weigh the benefits against possible risks.

Role of Guggulu on Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP)

ITP is a bleeding disorder that is caused when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets, which are the cells that help blood clot. This can lead to excessive bruising, bleeding from the gums or nose, and in severe cases, uncontrolled internal bleeding.

Guggulu helps in normalizing abnormal thrombocytopenic levels. A study conducted with twenty patients who had ITP was given Guggulu two times daily for sixty days.

The result showed that the platelet count increased to the normal range, although it did decrease slightly within thirty days of discontinuing the Guggulu.

The study indicated that Guggulu helps as an alternative treatment for ITP. However, it should only be used until symptoms subside and then discontinued because of its effect on platelet count once symptoms are controlled.

All these important ayurvedic herbs help in the treatment of ITP effectively with no side effects. These herbs work individually or in combination as per the requirement and conditions of the person. They are easily available at online stores and health shops at reasonable rates. So, if you are suffering from ITP, then do not hesitate to try any of the excellent ayurvedic herbs for the treatment of ITP.
